Metal Cutting Area · Response Time Dashboard
Our average machine-down response time is up 20% this week. What's driving it, and what should we do?
Response time rose across every shift this week, but it is worst on 3rd shift, where only 1 operator is on duty to cover the whole Metal Cutting Area. When the machine stops overnight, there's often no one nearby to notice and respond right away.
| Shift | Operators on duty | Avg response time |
|---|---|---|
| 1st (6am–2pm) | 3 | 9 min |
| 2nd (2pm–10pm) | 2 | 15 min |
| 3rd (10pm–6am) | 1 | 27 min |

Adding headcount elsewhere wouldn't move the average much — 1st and 2nd shift are already reasonably covered. The lever that matters most is 3rd shift, which is both the slowest to respond and the least staffed.
Bringing 3rd-shift headcount from 1 to 2 operators is projected to cut that shift's average response time from 27 min to about 12–14 min, pulling the site-wide average back down toward last week's 15 min.
